The Custom Filter in Board Game Stats offers a lot of filtering options for all the games in your app, like Collection status, Play count, and Minimum age. From version 5 even more filters are included: general game data (like Designer, Publisher, Artist etc), BoardGameGeek data (like Rating, Rank, Mechanics and Category), and Community data from BGG users (like recommended and best player counts etc.).

All these filters together can help you select that one specific game you were looking for in your collection to play with a certain play group.

With the Tagging expansion even more options are available, like saving custom filters and viewing combined stats over filtered games. You can read more about those here: Advanced filter.

NOTE: Adding your own Rating and filtering and sorting on your own Rating is in Beta now.

NOTE: challenges can be created from saved filters (see Tagging and Advanced filter) and templates for everyone will be added later this year.

How it works

On the Games list, tap on the top menu and select “Custom Filter“. You can also get there from the All Games list by tapping the funnel icon. When in the Custom filter, you can always tap the funnel icon to close the Custom Filter screen and go back to the All Games list.

A few filters are always visible. You can tap these, or select your filter from the dropdown list you’ll get when you tap “All ▾“. If one ore more filters are active, a white badge on top of the “All ▾” button will show you how many are active. Active filters will be listed at the top of the dropdown list as well. You can remove an active filter by swiping right-to-left over it in the dropdown list, or remove all filters with the “Clear Filter” button.

Any filter you select will open in a new popup window. Configure the filter to your liking and tap the “Filter” button at the top right to confirm your choices. The list of games will be updated only showing games that match all your active filters (so selecting more filters will narrow down your results).

Below you’ll find a description of every available filter.
